For one to two weeks, bulky winter clothing, or shared family packing, the 96-liter Getaway 30" Trunk provides more room. These time estimates are general guides rather than fixed packing limits.

The best checked luggage should balance durability, manageable empty weight, smooth movement, and practical organization. Our current Getaway check-in models use 100% polycarbonate shells and GlideTech 360-degree double-spinner wheels with shock-absorbing housings. Select models also include expansion, built-in weight indicators, TSA-accepted combination locks, compression systems, and wet/dry storage. The ideal combination depends on your trip. Frequent flyers may prioritize wheels and weight monitoring, while family travelers may benefit more from adjustable dividers and a larger organized interior.

No single size limit applies to every airline, route, or fare. A label such as 24-inch, 26-inch, or 30-inch identifies the product category, but it does not replace the full exterior dimensions. Our 26-inch model measures approximately 28.3 x 17.7 x 11.8 inches and expands to about 13.4 inches deep. The 30-inch Trunk measures approximately 31.5 x 16.5 x 14.1 inches. Airlines may include wheels and handles when measuring check-in luggage, so compare all three exterior dimensions with your carrier’s current policy.

A large suitcase can simplify shared packing, but it is not automatically the best option for every family. Our Getaway 30" Trunk holds 96 liters and includes movable dividers, compression straps, wet/dry storage, and a 70/30 split lid for separating different travelers’ belongings. However, it weighs approximately 12.1 pounds when empty, leaving less of the airline’s weight allowance for packed items. Two smaller cases may be easier to divide between travelers, lift into a vehicle, and reorganize if one bag becomes overweight.

Check the airline’s weight allowance before packing and weigh the fully loaded case, not just its contents. Keep passports, keys, cash, essential medication, valuable electronics, and anything needed immediately after landing in your personal item or cabin bag. Fragile belongings may also be safer with you because checked luggage can experience impacts during handling. Rules for batteries, liquids, aerosols, tools, and other restricted items can vary by airline, route, and destination. Review the current requirements before departure rather than assuming an item is permitted because it physically fits inside your checked luggage.
